IBM's own Personal Computer (IBM 5150) was introduced on August 12, 1981. But the personal computer industry truly began in 1977, with the introduction of three preassembled mass-produced personal computers: Apple Computer, Inc.'s (now Apple Inc.) Apple II, the Tandy Radio Shack TRS-80, and the Commodore Business Machines Personal Electronic Transactor (PET). The operating System that was sold with the IBM PC 5150 was Microsoft DOS Version One. Microsoft introduced an operating environment named Windows on November 20, 1985, as a graphical operating system shell for MS-DOS in response to the growing interest in graphical user interfaces (GUIs). Microsoft released Windows 10 on July 29, 2015, is currently their most stable O/S on the market today, used by over one billion devices throughout the world as of 2020. However, Windows NT is a proprietary graphical operating system produced by Microsoft, the first version of which was released on July 27, 1993. Windows 11 was released on October 5, 2021. Today, all Windows versions are based on this one Technology called NT.
About the instructor Lloyd X, AKA Lloyd Forney was the Senior Network Computer Engineer for the Minneapolis Public School. Lloyd was an adjunct instructor for the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities. Llyd has taught subjects in Windows and Data Communications. Lloyd ran a successful business named L&R Communications. Living in San Diego, California, Lloyd a free-lance computer contractor servicing such customers as Toy-R-US, Old Navy, Whole Foods, Banana Republic. One of the most outstanding achievements was to build the first Computer Network for a Charter School in the history of America. Currently, Lloyd X teaches Seniors-N-Technology Series, a technology class for Seniors, and is providing technical support for KBBG Radio Station, 88.1 on the FM dial in Waterloo, Iowa.
